In conjunction with the Pasco Stake Conference, Elder Risenmay invited Julie and I to attend an investigator/returning member meeting at 8:30 a.m. As we drove up to the stake center, we were greeted by two young men who, at first, I thought were two of our Elders. They introduced themselves as Bro. Waldo and Bro. Godinez. They told us they were former missionaries in the WKM and had served under Pres. Belnap. They have been home about 10 months and were now employed in Kennewick. I immediately loved them because they looked the part of full-time missionaries without name tags. They had beautiful smiles and spirits to match. They told us that they had former investigators, now converts, attending the early meeting and desired to attend.
During the meeting Elder Risenmay invited a new Spanish speaking convert, Victor, to bear his testimony. Brother Godinz knew the convert and was asked to translate. Initially everything went well. Victor would speak and Elder Godinez would translate. However, after a few minutes Brother Victor was speaking, but Elder Godinez was silent. Nothing but a long pause. Brother Victor stopped talking because Elder Godinez was not translating. It became apparent that Brother Victor was sharing special thoughts about his missionary--Elder Godinez. Soon big tears were flowing instead of translation. Even though nothing was spoken, we knew what Brother Victor was saying. The love between convert and missionary was obvious. Everyone in the room was touched by the Spirit.
